Step 4: METRC Integration
This step connects DubLedger to your state's cannabis tracking system. This is optional during onboarding but required before going live.

Getting Your METRC API Key
1. Log in to your METRC account at `[your-state].metrc.com`.
2. Navigate to Admin → API Keys.
3. Click Generate New API Key.
4. Copy the key immediately (it is only shown once).
5. Store it securely.

Entering Your API Key
1. Paste your METRC API key into the field.
2. Select your state from the dropdown.
3. Select your facility (license number).
4. Click Test Connection to verify.
5. If successful, click Enable Sync.

Initial Sync
Once connected, DubLedger performs an initial sync:
- Downloads all active packages from METRC.
- Links package tags to your products.
- Syncs lab test results.
- This may take 5-15 minutes depending on your inventory size.

Skipping METRC Setup
You can skip this step and connect METRC later via Settings → Integrations → METRC. However, you cannot process compliant sales without METRC connected in METRC states.

BioTrack and Leaf Data
If you operate in a BioTrack state (FL, AR, NM, ND) or Leaf Data state (WA), the system will show the appropriate integration instead of METRC. The setup process is similar.

Sandbox Mode
If you want to test before going live, enable Sandbox Mode to use the test environment. This is recommended for training new staff on compliance workflows.
