Customer ID Verification
How to verify customer IDs and check purchase limits.
Customer ID Verification
DubLedger verifies customer identity through manual ID-number entry. Every customer must be verified before a sale can proceed.
Manual ID entry
- Tap the customer area in the POS and select Enter ID Manually.
- Enter the ID number, ID type, date of birth, and expiration date.
- The system immediately runs the checks below.
There is no camera, barcode, PDF417, or magnetic-stripe scanning in the current release. ID numbers must be entered manually.
Verification checks
Age verification
- Recreational customers must be 21 or older.
- Medical customers must be 18 or older.
- The system calculates age from the date of birth and blocks underage sales.
ID expiration
- Expired IDs are flagged with a warning.
- Sales are blocked when the ID is expired, based on your compliance settings.
Purchase-limit checks
- Daily limit: maximum grams per customer per day, set in compliance settings.
- Monthly limit: maximum grams per 30-day rolling period.
- The system calculates equivalent grams for all products in the cart.
- If a limit would be exceeded, the sale is blocked and the budtender can see the remaining allowance.
Customer profiles
When you verify a customer, DubLedger can create or update a customer profile that stores the ID number, expiration date, date of birth, and purchase history. This profile is used for future visits and loyalty tracking.
