Customer ID Verification

How to verify customer IDs and check purchase limits.

Customer ID Verification

DubLedger verifies customer identity through manual ID-number entry. Every customer must be verified before a sale can proceed.

Manual ID entry

  1. Tap the customer area in the POS and select Enter ID Manually.
  2. Enter the ID number, ID type, date of birth, and expiration date.
  3. The system immediately runs the checks below.

There is no camera, barcode, PDF417, or magnetic-stripe scanning in the current release. ID numbers must be entered manually.

Verification checks

Age verification

  • Recreational customers must be 21 or older.
  • Medical customers must be 18 or older.
  • The system calculates age from the date of birth and blocks underage sales.

ID expiration

  • Expired IDs are flagged with a warning.
  • Sales are blocked when the ID is expired, based on your compliance settings.

Purchase-limit checks

  • Daily limit: maximum grams per customer per day, set in compliance settings.
  • Monthly limit: maximum grams per 30-day rolling period.
  • The system calculates equivalent grams for all products in the cart.
  • If a limit would be exceeded, the sale is blocked and the budtender can see the remaining allowance.

Customer profiles

When you verify a customer, DubLedger can create or update a customer profile that stores the ID number, expiration date, date of birth, and purchase history. This profile is used for future visits and loyalty tracking.
